Photographer and Academic
I have teamed up with filmmaker, Patrick Hoelscher, and producer, Rachel Eireann to form a production company - In Our Nature (ION). We work to amplify motivating environmental narratives through documentary film and photography. All our work is carbon neutral.
My background is in climate research. I worked for the University of Cape Town on FRACTAL with funding from the European Research Council to explore how narratives can be used to make sense of climate issues in African cities.
I joined the think tank, Climate Outreach, who have paved the way in understanding the visual language of climate change. I developed my photography whilst working for Project Pressure, which is a network of photographic artists highlighting the impacts of climate change including Klaus Thymann, Noémie Goudal, Adam Hinton, Simon Norfolk and the duo Broomberg and Chanarin.
Last year, I was diagnosed with cancer in my dominant eye...the surgeons removed the tear gland so I can't cry about it...I now take pictures with the other eye and my interests in photography, storytelling and climate change have been neatly unified under ION.
